The competition is open to high school jazz instrumentalists in the Bay Area.
Three winners will be picked by a panel of professional jazz musicians based on their submissions and awarded $1500 each to further their music studies. The competition will culminate with the winners performing alongside some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians in April 2020.
The students that aren’t finalists are invited to join a database of students invited to FREE ballroom workshops.
In addition, the winners’ respective schools will also receive $1000 to support the ongoing development of their music programs.

Audio files (MP3s) of themselves playing three audition pieces:
1 Uptempo Standard
1 Blues Piece
A paragraph explaining:
Student's background in jazz
Favorite artists and musical influences
Future goals and plans in music and jazz study
How student plans to use scholarship money
